Welcome to the home page of Matt Woods Photography.
I am an independent photographer, located in Kendal, Cumbria, UK, between the English Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. My greatest single area of activity is currently landscapes, but I am available for most types of location work. I have a background in mechanical engineering and computer aided design and I am experienced in producing technical literature. As both an author and end user, I have a first-hand appreciation and understanding of the requirements of a variety publication types, ranging from promotional brochures, through academic papers, to instruction manuals.
The adjacent slide show illustrates my personal interest in landscapes and the outdoors. The images span several years and a range of cameras, from some early digital compacts to my present day Canon SLRs. Photography apart, I have an enthusiasm for the outdoors and I am a keen cyclist and runner. The intention of the slide show is to provide a flavour of my interests and perhaps communicate my style of outdoor photography - but failing this, I hope that you simply find it enjoyable!

For shooting locally in the Lakes, I use Canon EOS equipment, which facilitates achieving that coveted balance between quality and portability. Befitting results can be obtained whilst travelling relatively light and thus profiting from being able to adopt a reactive approach to the often rapidly changing mountain weather conditions.
Kendal has the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales on its doorstep and the border with Scotland is but an hour's drive away. The northern capitals of Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle (not to mention Glasgow and Edinburgh) are also readily accessible. Consequently, my travel time and costs for location photography in these areas is minimised.

Finally... if you're a regular visitor to this site, you may have noticed that the content has become a little static of late. This is because there is a new website in preparation and effort of late has been concentrated on the new site, as opposed to maintaining this, the outgoing site. You may also have noted the disappearance of the "Shop" section. The reason for this is that I am reviewing my sales and marketing methods. The new website will reflect the outcome of this review and will contain either a new shop and/or information on new outlets for my images and framed prints. Please bear with me!
